This weekend my friends and family and I celebrated my 30th birthday. For the past year, I'd been really dreading turning 30. I felt like I was "losing my youth" and all that. But for the past couple of weeks I've come to realize that my 30th year is really going to be one of the best years of my life. I am marrying my best friend. We will probably start looking into buying a house. We'll likely get a dog. I have amazing friends and family who love me more than I could ever know. What do I have to be bummed about?
With that attitude, I celebrated my little heart out on Saturday night. We went to one of my favorite sushi restaurants called Edohana in Fort Worth. About 16 of us sat around two hibachi grills as the amazing chefs put on a great show. We ate really great food and my favorite sushi roll of all time, the Temptation Roll. YUMMY! We had saki and wine and beer. My mom and my future mother-in-law did sake bombs together (did I mention I have the coolest mom and mother-in-law ever in the history of moms?).
After dinner we went to an improvisational comedy show called Four Day Weekend. They are hilarious! Seriously, if you are ever in Fort Worth on a weekend evening, go check them out! After the show it was nearly midnight and I generally turn into a pumpkin at midnight, so we decided to head back home. I was happy to go unwind and play with the new camera that my mom and dad got me. I still have to play with it outside during daylight hours, but I thought this picture of my sweet Bella kitty was pretty good for a random indoor shot.
Anyhoo, Sunday morning my mom and sister and I were supposed to go to the Dallas Bridal Show but I decided that we were all so tired and busy that we could wait until the Fort Worth Bridal Show in February. So I just took care of Lobster (who is fighting a bit of a stomach bug) and ran some errands and generally laid low all day. I wish I had taken a day off of work for my birthday but I figured I'd need to save up all my time off for our honeymoon.
It was a really fun birthday and I am so blessed to have such great friends and family! Here's to a fantastic new decade!

Yes, I love this attitude for you! I'm excited for 30. I think my thirties will be much better than my 20s. Was the comedy show the one at Reata? Or in that building anyway? Hilarious. And sushi in Fort Worth? Why didn't I know that?! Next time I'm there, oh wait, that will be for your wedding and you'll probably be busy. Damn. Next-next time.
Happy Birthday!! Sounds like you had a blast!!
I love LOVE love Four day weekend. I started out improv in their workshop classes... geez over six years ago, that is insane. They have such a great show and if you are ever interested in learning improv, it is a great place to start. My current comedy troupe is taking a fieldtrip to see their show next saturday!! it's been a while and I can't wait!!!
