The alarm sounds at exactly 7:15 a.m. Groggily, I stumble out from under my warm duvet and turn off the Christmas music blasting through the speakers. I love Christmas music, but not necessarily at 7:15 in the morning.
I kiss Lobster and make my way to the bathroom. Still half asleep, I manage to brush my teeth and wash my face and then shuffle my way into the kitchen to start making breakfast. The coffee maker has just begun its daily drip and the smell of Godiva coffee (chocolate truffle flavor this morning) wafts deliciously through the chilly house. Perking up slightly, I shuffle into the living room and turn on the Today show. Just as I'm powering up the t.v. (and all the weird, manly contraptions that Lobster has set up so we can hear the t.v. three blocks away), I glance out the window and nearly fall over.
It's snowing! SNOW! Big, fat, juicy flakes of snow are falling heavily from a gray sky.
I giggle with glee. SNOW! I love snow!
And then it occurs to me that I have to drive to work. Suddenly, I'm not quite so fond of the snow.
The 30-second weather update suddenly begins on the television and the meteorologist informs me that it is indeed snowing (thank you, Captain Obvious) but it is not sticking to the ground and the streets are nothing but wet.
All at once I feel relief (no icy roads!) and dismay (nuts, I have to go to work).
Sighing, I continue my morning routine. I'd rather stay home and play in the unexpected winter wonderland, but I can't complain. The gift of snow always makes me cheery, no matter whether its at home or at work.
Have a cheery day!

In the three years I lived in FW, it snowed one time - Valentine's Day our 1L year. Remember that? It was so weird to stand on my balcony and see a full pool with snow all around it. The novelty of snow does quickly wear off when you realize you actually need to go on with life in it. If I could just hibernate, drink hot chocolate, cuddle up with pugs and a book and a pinot noir from December through March I totally would. I end up HATING snow and winter after Christmas up here. Too freaking cold and such a mess!
Ok so your in Texas! I didn't think anyone from anywhere else in the country would be so excited! I'm in Dallas, and work in Frisco and the drive to work was like a snowglobe and it was Frickin Awesome! I really wanted to stay home as well.. I think because usually when it snow/ices here we DO get to stay home!
i am so envious i wish for once it would snow here in southern cali it doesn't even feel like the seasons change much with the exception of spring rain that is which is seems to rain on my birthday and that's actually okay with me. I love back east fall days watching leaves changing colors and absolutely LOVE snow for the holiday! make a snowball for me!
that's good about the ice too I hated driving icy roads when i lived in oklahoma.
well be safe and have fun!
Ok, so I keep hearing about this so-called snow but I never saw any. This may or may not be because I was in bed yesterday until 10:30.
What? I didn't have anywhere (worth while) to be. Stop judging!
How much fun! That's what so great about living in north Texas...you get snow every now & then, which makes it fun & exciting! That should definitely put you in the Christmas spirit. They are playing holiday tunes 24/7 on the radio here...and believe it or not...it's a little chilly too!
Snow's great to look at when I'm indoors, but I'd rather not be... out there. It's just too cold in the wintertime. I'm a summer baby, always will be.
